training and accreditation

"I did first aid training recently and I’ve done youth helper training in the summer, it was really good. We learnt how to save lots of lives and to stay calm and stuff. “

We offer a range of training and support for young people and we try, wherever possible, to tailor it to their specific needs and to match skill gain to aspiration.

Events Management Training: A.P.P.L.E. run two Events Management training courses a year. These courses offer young people the knowledge and skills needed to plan and run their own events both inside and outside of our programme.

Youth Helper Training:  We run a pre-summer holiday Youth Helper training course to give the young people working with us basic knowledge and skills in areas such as Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Working with Children, Young People, Running an Activity and Food Hygiene.

Work Experience: A.P.P.L.E. support young people’s development where possible by offering one to one work with experienced specialists in as many areas as possible.  Young people can bring projects and course work to complete at The Art Block.

Trinity Arts Awards: an accredited framework for young people to develop as artists and arts leaders.

External Accredited Training Courses: We offer regular external accredited training for young people as part of their development, such as First Aid, Food Hygiene.

A.P.P.L.E. Certificates: Young participants receive A.P.P.L.E. certificates (AAA) to put in their Records of Achievement and are given references to support further education and work opportunities. For example, we run a Young Gardeners Certificate for those attending Gardening  Club on Thursdays after school.

Work Experience Placements: A.P.P.L.E. works in partnership with five high schools to offer Work Experience places for students every year.
